Sylvestre works on two places in your body; your taste buds,
and the intestinal wall.
The
taste buds in the mouth that detect sugar are similar in structure
to the tissue that absorbs sugar in the intestine. The active
ingredient in Gymnena Sylvestre, gymnenic acid, is made up of
molecules similarin structure to that of glucose molecules. The
gymnenic acid molecules fill the receptor sites on the taste buds
for one or two hours, preventing them from being activated by
any sugar molecules in food.
Chitosan
is a fiber derived from the exoskeletons of shellfish. Like other
fiber, it cannot be digested. Chitosan can absorb up to four to
six times its weight in fat, carrying it through the intestine
undigested. This fat carrying chitosan is then excreted, preventing
the accompanying fat from ever entering the bloodstream.
